Wow, I can't believe I have only been here one week plus 4 hours...so much has happened since I came and we all feel like we've been here for quite a while.
I went to a lovely town called "Gordes" to sketch on Thursday (with my Travel Portfolio class), though it was extremely windy, and to a stained glass museum and an olive oil museum with my Treasures of Provence class, also on Thursday.
Today we went to Arles!! We just got back and I am completely exhausted, so I will update this again with pictures and everything once I get some much needed sleep, time, and reliable internet- meaning holing up in one of the cave/computer labs.
What I was able to see:
Les Roman Amphitheatre
Les Alycamps (the cemetery)
Café La Nuit (I think that's its' name- the café that Van Gogh painted)
La Musé de architecture (an antiques museum, mostly of Roman artifacts)
La Rhone River
L'eglise (the church whose name escapes me)
Les cloister (in which the monks used to live)
A Bullfight in Les Roman Arena!!! -Definitely a sight I am glad to have seen...but never again do I want to witness that. Typcal French bullfights do not end in the death of the bull, but once a year, this weekend (since it's so close to Easter), they hold a Spanish style bullfight...which does end with the death of every bull fought. The costumes were beautiful, though!
I also enjoyed a Nutella Crépe! Yea France and amazing crépes everywhere!
Needless to say, I am exhausted and shall treat myself to a dose of sleep.
Until next time!
