Wow! I leave tomorrow! I can hardly believe that...I know I am, but it doesn't seem real. I keep saying I'm mostly packed, but as soon as I do I think of ten other things I have to do, like make sure I have chargers for everything, converters, have everything charged that should be charged, extra copies of all of my documents (which is a lot of paper!), fixing my watch, buying extra stuff that they won't sell there- motrin and such- last minute laundry, talking with my bank, reading for my first class, and making sure I have all of that in some organized fashion...which I need to double check. I can't keep track of all of the papers and copies of papers and passports and identification and flight schedules..and contact information and information packets...how is one to keep this all straight?!
I'm really excited, though. Every time I pack to more to/from college..or just pack in general, I realize just how materialistic I am and how much *STUFF* I have! This gives me a chance to limit myself (I kind of have to, with the 50lb weight limit and whatnot) and go strictly with what I need: clothes, toiletries, a heck of a lot of art supplies (that I can't cut back on, sadly), some food that might as well not exist in France, a calendar, and two cuddly things from home. I need the cuddlies or...well, I'm just that materialistic. Oh, and my laptop, but I almost wish I didn't need it- it's heavy and extremely slow! It is almost 8 years old, though, so I can't complain, it's been very helpful.
I know I described my classes, but I never said my schedule, so here it is!
Mondays and Wednesdays: No classes! Yea! Breakfast is from 8-9, Lunch from 12h-13h (I have to get used to the 24-hour clock), and dinner from 19h-20h (6-7pm). Weekends we have Brunch at 11-12, I believe.
Tuesdays and Thursdays: 9-12 Treasures of Provence, 13h-16h Travel Portfolio....and that's it! I'm only taking two classes instead of 3, the full load, thank you extra credit hours! But believe me, I will be busy, if not working hard on homework, hiking out to Bonnioux (the nearest town/village) and exploring Provence...or trying to learn more French so that I don't make a fool of myself to the villagers.
Well, that's all that's new for now. Hopefully I'll be able to hop on sometime Friday after 5...17h I mean, which would be 11am in Chicago...I think. The time difference will confuse me a bit at first. For the first few days I will be only 6 hours ahead of Chicago, but then France will go on Daylight Savings time and it will be 7 hours. Anyway, this will be the last blog update I will do in the United States!! I can't believe that. Once I get to Lacoste there will be more pictures in these, too- I will have my camera strapped to my wrist so I don't forget to take pictures, as I am usually not a picture-taker at all.
Until next time, in Lacosté!
